The fourth edition of the football tournament at the Pan American Games was held in São Paulo, Brazil, from April 20 to May 4, 1963. Six teams competed in a round-robin competition with three of the six spots being competed at a qualifier tournament earlier in the year.

Six teams booked their spot to compete at the 1963 edition of the tournament with Brazil, Costa Rica and the United States automatically qualifying while the other three spots were in a South American qualifier tournament.
