The association football tournament at the 1960 Summer Olympics will be played throughout Italy between August 26 and September 10. The tournament will feature sixteen teams competing in the tournament with the format being changed to be a group stage for the first time

Sixteen teams qualified for the 1960 Summer Olympics with fifteen team qualifying through the qualifiers to join Italy in the finals.
