The 1930 edition of the Football at the British Empire Games was the first time that association football was part of the British Empire Games and was the only team sport that was in the British Empire Games. Six teams competed in the tournament with the teams being separated into two groups of three with the winners of each group going through to the gold medal match while the runner-up went into the bronze medal match.

In the gold medal game it was Scotland that took out the title as they defeated Irish Free State 2-1. England finished in the bronze medal match after defeating Wales.
