The 1961–62 European Cup Winners' Cup was the second season of the European Cup Winner's Cup, EFU club football tournament for EFU teams that have won the national cup. The defending champions in Ferencváros once again taking out the title 4-2 against Athletic Bilbao.

Background[edit | edit source]

The history of the European Cup Winner's Cup began in the late 1950s where the team that created the Mitropa Cup wanted to create a tournament which would feature the cup winners of each nation. With the success of the European Cup being popular, this tournament would be created for the 1960–61 season. After the success of the first season, the tournament expanded to 9 to 20 teams.
