The 1960–61 ABA season was the eighth season of the American Basketball Association. The season ended with the Boston Celtics winning the ABA Championship, Los Angeles Sphas 4 games to 2 in the ABA Finals.

At the start of the season the Sphas relocate from Atlanta to Los Angeles and become the first team in the west part of the United States.
The 1961 ABA All-Star Game was played in Syracuse, with the American Conference beating National Conference 112–111.
