The first edition of the Panamerican Championship of football was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from January 10 to February 7. Uruguay, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Cuba.

Argentina would win the title after they defeated Uruguay in the final group stage match. But the low crowds and the drubbings cause the competition to be scrapped for ten years until it was reborn in 1952.
